The body of the rapper was not found until around noon though it was said that his friends spent time with him until the early hours of the same day.

AceShowbiz - Mac Miller was dead for a number of hours before his body was discovered.

It was previously reported that the Goosebumpz rapper, real name Malcolm James McCormick, was pronounced dead at the scene of his Los Angeles home on September 7.

Miller died of an apparent overdose at the age of 26.

According to TMZ, when Miller's body was found at around noon, police determined he had died long before they arrived.

Friends of the rapper came over to his San Fernando Valley home last Thursday, September 06 to hang out, and stayed until the early hours of Friday morning.

The call to the emergency services stated that the rapper wasn't breathing and was unresponsive.

Miller's cause of death has not yet been determined, as the coroner is awaiting results from the toxicology report, which will take weeks, or even months.

The report comes as fellow rapper Kendrick Lamar paid a heartbreaking tribute to Miller on a U.S. TV show.

On Wednesday's (September 12) edition of Complex's Open Late With Peter Rosenberg, the "HUMBLE" hitmaker spoke fondly of his late friend and great sense of humour.

"He was just so quick and just so clever and it just made my day. And all in all that's the type of person he was - just a good dude. Always made you feel good, just a great energy to have around," Lamar gushed.

Calling Miller a "great musician and great writer", the rapper commended his friend for remaining positive, despite his struggles with addiction.

"Just always had a smile on his face, and that's something that I commend. No matter what he was going through, he didn't make you feel sorry for him, you know? He was strong about it – always kept a smile on his face because he wanted you to smile, too," added.
