Artist of the Week: Carrie Underwood
Music

Using her horrifying experience as an inspiration for her music, the country singer is set to release her upcoming album 'Cry Pretty' soon.

AceShowbiz - Carrie Underwood might have suffered a fatal facial injury last year, but it didn't stop her from making music. Instead, she used that horrifying experience as an inspiration for her upcoming album "Cry Pretty".

The album marks her first time as a co-producer and her first album with new record label Capitol Records Nashville. Talking about the effort in a statement, Carrie said that she felt "stronger and more creative than ever. I think you can hear that in this new album. It's emotional, it's soulful, it's real and we also have some fun on there too. I hope everyone loves it as much as I have loved making it."

Prior to releasing the album, Carrie unleashed its first single and title track "Cry Pretty" on April 11. The song was greatly praised by both music critics and fans due to its relatable lyrics. It debuted at No. 20 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart after being added to over than 100 radio stations, becoming the most added song to country radio stations. The song peaked at No. 9 on the chart.

"Cry Pretty" also debuted at No. 48 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart in addition to topping Digital Songs chart. It became the first country song to top the chart since Jason Aldean's "Burnin' It Down" in 2014 and peaked at No. 5 on Hot Country Songs chart.

Carrie debuted live performance of the song at the 53rd annual Academy of Country Music Awards on April 15. Her performance was so stunning that she received a standing ovation after she finished delivering the song. Billboard even ranked it as the best performance of the night. Besides performing, the songstress won Vocal Event of the Year for her collaboration with Keith Urban on "The Fighter".

"Cry Pretty" album will be released on September 14.
