AceShowbiz - More details of the upcoming "Charmed" reboot are here. Creator Jennie Snyder Urman ("Jane the Virgin") alongside the crew and cast explained during its panel at the Paley Fall TV Preview in Beverly Hills over the weekend that the new iteration will explore two main things: Latinx witchcraft and current women issues.

"We have a real Latinx witch in our writers' room," executive producer Amy Rardin said on Saturday, September 8. "Every culture has their own witchcraft traditions, and we really wanted to explore not just from a Salem witchcraft but all kinds of different witchcraft that happens all around the world."

The new take on the 1990s series will tackle brujeria, the art of magic and witchcraft according to Latinx traditions. The reboot is set to focus on the Vera sisters, consisting of Macy (Madeleine Mantock), Mel (Melonie Diaz) and Maggie (Sarah Jeffery), who will explore their magical abilities they discover in the series premiere.

Just like the original series, of the sisters possesses a unique power. While the original series saw Phoebe Halliwell (Alyssa Milano) receiving the power of premonition, the new series has Maggie, who is depicted to be a witch with the ability to read minds.

"[Maggie] is 18. So, [she’s] at a time when you’re worried about what everyone thinks about you,” Rardin explained.

Series writer Jessica O'Toole added, "We didn't want to make it too easy for them to solve things with magic, so I think we pulled back a little, which doesn’t mean that the power won’t evolve. Based on the original, the powers do evolve so that’s something we’ve had in the back of our minds as something we could get to."

In addition to brujeria, the new The CW series to explore "the women handling current issues, without lecturing the audience." O'Toole continued, "Even before the election, we always wanted to explore that link between strong women and witchcraft."

Star Mantock echoed the remarks, saying that she's glad that the show is "leading" with issues "because it shows people what kind of people we are."

"Charmed" reboot is slated to premiere on October 14 on The CW.
