The company insists they have not received any complaints about the products, but will offer refunds to customers who bought them and are unsatisfied.

AceShowbiz - Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle company Goop has agreed to pay $145,000 (£112,000) to settle allegations it made unproven health claims about three of its products.

Officials for the actress' Los Angeles-based lifestyle and media platform confirmed on Tuesday, September 04 that they had reached an "amicable" settlement with the California Food, Drug and Medical Device Task Force which was sent to investigate accusations that Goop bosses made unsubstantiated health statements about three products sold through its e-commerce website.

The case involved the Jade Egg and Rose Quartz Egg, items inserted into the vagina to boost sexual energy, and Inner Judge Flower Essence Blend. According to a statement issued by Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas, who was part of a task force, statements on the website claimed the eggs could balance hormones, regulate menstrual cycles and increase bladder control, while the blend could help prevent depression.

According to Bloomberg, Goop executives agreed to pay $145,000 to settle the case and stop making claims about the products' efficacy. They insisted they have not received any complaints about the products, but will offer refunds to any customers who bought them between January and August 2017 and are unsatisfied.

Goop representatives said the settlement did not indict any liability on their behalf. They believe there has been an honest disagreement about the health claims, but they wanted to settle the matter quickly.

"Goop provides a forum for practitioners to present their views and experiences with various products like the Jade Egg," Erica Moore, the company's chief financial officer, told WWD.com in a statement. "The law, though, sometimes views a statement like this as advertising claims, which are subject to various legal requirements.

"The task force assisted us in applying those laws to the content we published, and we appreciate their guidance in this matter as we move from a pioneer in this space to an established wellness authority."
