Additionally, it is confirmed that Bruce Willis will reprise his role as detective lieutenant John McClane in the sixth film of the franchise.

AceShowbiz - The next installment of "Die Hard" finally has an official title, but the title won't involve the words "Die Hard" again. It was previously rumored that the sixth film would be called "Die Hard: Year One". However, film producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has revealed the real title and confirmed Bruce Willis' return in the upcoming project.

"You can tell our intention by the fact that the title page we handed in says, 'McClane'," Bonaventura told Empire magazine. "We want you to get invested in John McClane more than ever before."

With that being said, Willis is set to reprise his role as the main protagonist. Bonaventura also stated that the project would be both sequel and prequel as its story would follow the journey of present-day McClane and a younger McClane. "I don't know how you do 'Die Hard' without Bruce," the 61-year-old producer said. "The idea that he's not very significant in this movie is not accurate at all. We are gonna explore John McClane in his twenties. But just as prominent is the 60-year-old version."

The film production is expected to start in the coming months with Len Wiseman serving as director. Chad Hayes and Carey W. Hayes, meanwhile, are tapped to pen the script. While Willis returns as the detective lieutenant, it is still unknown who will portray the younger McClane. Wiseman previously implied that he hadn't found the right actor to play the character. "The right casting for this role is crucial," the director said. "Those bare feet have some very big shoes to fill."

Wiseman also said that he was interested in exploring McClane's relationship with his ex-wife, Holly Gennero, who was portrayed by Bonnie Bedelia in the first and second installment. "I also just really wondered what was the relationship," the "Underworld" director said. "When did he first meet Holly? It's actually the love story that has not been told."

There's still no word on "McClane" release date.
