The singer turns down the offer after organizers of the music festival fails to meet her financial demands.

AceShowbiz - Cher has reportedly turned down the chance to play Glastonbury next year after organisers failed to meet her financial demands.

The "Believe" singer is back in the spotlight after her appearance in the movie musical "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again" - and she's releasing "Dancing Queen", a tie-in album of ABBA hits.

Organisers of the legendary British music event reportedly targeted Cher, 76, to fill the Sunday legends slot previously taken by stars including Dolly Parton, Tom Jones, and Lionel Richie. However, the two parties apparently failed to reach an agreement, as stars traditionally cut their usual fee to play at Glastonbury.

"Bosses have dreamed of securing Cher for their legends slot for years," a source told U.K. newspaper The Sun. "Fans were so excited seeing her in 'Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again' this summer, with her performance of Fernando being a real highlight. But she is a megastar and is used to being offered huge numbers for her time, so she wasn't interested after learning it's more about the experience."

Cher's representatives informed WENN they were unaware of the offer - but declined to comment further.

Emily Eavis, who now helps her father Michael run the festival he founded in 1970, previously revealed that next year's (19) legend would be a woman.

"We've finally found our Sunday teatime legend slot as well, which is really exciting," she told BBC Radio 2 in July. "I can't tell you, but I'll give you a clue: it's a female. She is not British, but I can't give you any more clues because it will get me into trouble."

The Worthy Farm event in Somerset, England, will return with a bang in 2019 after a one year absence, with Paul McCartney, Madonna, Arctic Monkeys, Elton John and Fleetwood Mac all among the favourites to headline. Kylie Minogue and Diana Ross have also been touted as possible candidates for the legends slot.

Cher releases "Dancing Queen" on September 28.
