According to sources, the movie's crew members have been dismissed and are free to look for another job.

AceShowbiz - It looks like Marvel fans have to wait a little longer for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" as the movie's production is reportedly put on indefinite hold. Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that Marvel Studios and Disney have been preparing for pre-production, but now the movie crew are dismissed and free to look for another job.

The third installment was previously set to begin filming early next year for a 2020 release, however, the production has to be delayed until Marvel and Disney find a new director following James Gunn's firing. Gunn was going to direct the project, but his old offensive tweets resurfaced online and Disney immediately dropped him out of the movie franchise.

The fans clearly weren't happy with the reports as they took to Twitter to express their disappointment. "This 'Guardians of the Galaxy' situation hurts my poor heart," an individual wrote. "Lmao Disney. They took the worst possible route through this whole situation and made themselves looks like incompetent trigger-happy hypocrites," one mocked the studio. "Extremely saddened and disgusted to hear about the delaying of #GuardiansoftheGalaxyVol3 by @DisneyStudios. This is just a sign that the movie won't be what it should be," another fan added.

Many people disagreed with Disney's decision to fire Gunn as there was a petition demanding the studio to rehire the 52-year-old filmmaker. The movie's cast also released an open letter, declaring their loyalty to the director. Signed by Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and their co-stars, the letter then was posted on their own Instagram accounts.

Marvel even reportedly tried to convince Disney to rehire Gunn, but the studio claimed that it stood firm on the decision to let go of the filmmaker.

According to an insider, Gunn and Disney's chairman Alan Horn had a "civil and professional" meeting to discuss the decision, while Marvel Studios' president Kevin Feige couldn't attend the meeting because he was out of town. Although Disney has cut ties with Gunn, his original script for the superhero movie will still be used, as sources reported.
