The Korean-American director attacks the K-pop stars for their feminine looks, claiming, 'They are all wearing lipstick. This is what Crazy Rich Asians actually look like.'

AceShowbiz - Korean-American director Joseph Kahn isn't among those who salute BTS' (Bangtan Boys) following their global success. In fact, the 45-year-old has attacked the K-pop idols for their "plastic surgery" appearance that makes them look "feminine."

The music video director, who has worked with such artists as Jennifer Lopez, Lady GaGa and Taylor Swift, tweeted on Thursday, August 9, "They all have plastic surgery. They all wear lipstick. This is what Crazy Rich Asians actually look like."

He also retweeted an article about the trend of plastic surgery among South Korean men to get "pretty boy" looks like K-pop idols and K-drama actors.

Kahn didn't stop there, posting an imaginary conversation which mocks Asian men's tendency to wear makeup these days.

His comments, of course, have since backfired. Many Twitter users hit back at Kahn and defended BTS' members. They shared childhood pictures of the members to prove that their looks are all natural and that the members didn't have any plastic surgeries.

"exactly. they just take good care of their skin. i cant believe theyre attacking people who practices self-care. oh the hate," one commented on Kahn's tweet. Another added, "Plastic surgery is huge in us too dont tell me those white ppl with plump lips and high cheekbones is original. Just bcs plastic surgery is huge in korea doesnt mean bts did it."

"This just proves the fact that the west can't believe an asian can be beautiful without plastic surgery. Natural beauty exist all over the world and BTS themselves are a part of that," read another comment. "They haven't had a single ounce of plastic surgery because they're not from a big company that often requires it for their idols. Plus BTS still look the same as they did from their pre-debut photos. The west needs to stop their racist stereotyping and start educating themsevles."

Another Twitter user was disappointed in Kahn for making such hateful comments, "I used to like your work @JosephKahn and praised you but you are officially cancelled making such $***ty remarks about a group that didn't even do jack to you!"

"I hope that some day you will realise that being nasty & aggressive on social media is not a healthy way to deal with your insecurities about your body and your masculinity," another BTS fan reacted to Khan's statements.

Despite his attack on the popular boyband, Kahn claimed that he loves BTS.

People are not convinced though, as they posted memes accusing Kahn of telling "bulls**t" about his admiration for the boys.

BTS itself has not responded to Kahn's attack. They may not have time to pay attention to derogatory remarks like Kahn's comments as they're gearing up to launch their new repackaged album "Love Yourself: Answer" which is set to hit the shelves on August 24.
