Regarding 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina', Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said that there're no plans 'at this time' for a crossover between 'Riverdale' and the upcoming Netflix series.

AceShowbiz - A new spin-off of The CW's "Riverdale" is allegedly being developed. The network's president Mark Pedowitz teases the planned project during his appearance at the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Monday, August 6.

"In terms of spinoffs out of 'Riverdale', I'm waiting to hear what [showrunner] Roberto [Aguirre-Sacasa] has in mind. He has something in mind," Pedowitz shared.

Aguirre-Sacasa, who also serves as the CCO at Archie Comics, later gave some details of the new spin-off idea. "We're really excited, but we're still early on in the process," he told reporters. He added that the new project would be "very different" from "Riverdale".

Aguirre-Sacasa, however, declines to reveal whether the spin-off will feature a character from the moody mystery series.

The mysterious spin-off will join Netflix's "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina". The upcoming witchy teen series was initially developed at The CW as the potential companion show to "Riverdale". Netflix later gave the series a two-season, 20-episode straight-to-series order for the new Sabrina adaptation.

Regarding "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina", Aguirre-Sacasa said that there're no plans "at this time" for a crossover between "Riverdale" and "Sabrina". "Right now, we're trying to make sure that the shows have their own identity and their own set of rules," he shared.

Season 3 of "Riverdale" is set to "dive right into" the "Hot Dads of Riverdale" phenomenon that drove people crazy back in the sophomore season. Meanwhile, the younger cast will play younger versions of their TV parents in a flashback episode.

"Riverdale" pulled in a 0.49 demo average during the previous season 2. It brought the series to the Top 5 of the highest-rated program on the network, trailing "The Flash, "Black Lightning", "Supernatural and "Supergirl".

"Riverdale" returns for its season 3 on Wednesday, October 10 at 8 P.M. on The CW. Meanwhile, "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" premieres on Friday, October 26 on Netflix.
