Should he sign the deal, the actor will join the likes of Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Timothee Chalamet and Saoirse Ronan in the movie.

AceShowbiz - British TV hunk James Norton has landed a major Hollywood role just weeks after announcing his departure from popular drama Grantchester.

The star, who is a fan favourite to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond, is in talks to join Meryl Streep, Emma Stone, Timothee Chalamet, and Saoirse Ronan in director Greta Gerwig's new Little Women movie adaptation.

Norton, who also appears in U.K. TV series McMafia, recently bowed out of his beloved role as crime-solving clergyman Sidney Chambers on Grantchester.

He'll be stepping down after the fourth season of the show.

Outlander and Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool star Tom Brittney will replace him on the show as Reverend Will Davenport.

Norton said, "It's heartbreaking to be saying goodbye to Sidney Chambers. I've loved this experience, and particularly working with such an extraordinary cast and crew. All the best to the fantastic Tom Brittney in his role as the new vicar. He is a wonderful addition to the Grantchester family."
