AceShowbiz - Activist and actress Nicole Maines is set to make history as TV's first transgender superhero.
The Royal Pains star has joined April Parker Jones and David Ajala among the new cast members for Supergirl.
Maines will play Nia Nal on the show, while Jones has been cast as Colonel Haley, a patriotic military woman, and Ajala will join the team as Manchester Black.
The trio joins previously announced new series regulars Jesse Rath and Sam Witwer.
Supergirl's fourth season debuts in the U.S. in October.
