AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. has revealed the first-look photo of a massive sea dragon, which will be featured in upcoming superhero movie "Aquaman". It appears that the monstrous sea creature is set to be Aquaman's ride underwater. The sea dragon is the movie version of the giant seahorse that Aquaman used to ride around on "Super Friends" cartoon.
In the photo obtained by Entertaiment Weekly, the mighty creature is seen standing on a rock with Aquaman's silhouette on his back. The dragon looks calm yet badass. It has green and yellow skin and a curly tail, which is similar to seahorse's.

"Aquaman" producer Peter Safran explained the reason why they changed the superhero's seahorse with a gigantic monster. "The idea was to turn on its head the idea of Aquaman riding a seahorse, take something for which he was mocked and turn it into something terrifying and impressive," Safran said. "He's a Xebellian creature but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Arthur (Jason Momoa) on one at some point."
Sea dragons are mainly used by the people of Xebel, one of the seven underwater kingdoms of Atlantis in DC universe. The kingdom is ruled by King Nereus, who is portrayed by Dolph Lundgren.
Although the sea dragon looks similar to dragons on HBO's "Game of Thrones", these underwater creatures don't breathe fire but they're described as very strong and fast.
The first official synopsis of the movie was already released by Warner Bros. the movie's official website. It reads, "From Warner Bros. Pictures and director James Wan comes an action-packed adventure that spans the vast, visually breathtaking underwater world of the seven seas, Aquaman, starring Jason Momoa in the title role. The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime-one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be...a king."
"Aquaman" will arrive in U.S. theaters on December 21.
