The rapper claims he had split with his wife years earlier than their reported 2017 split, and that he continued to help with medical bills following the breakup.

AceShowbiz - Kurupt has insisted he didn't leave his wife after she was diagnosed with cancer.

According to new court documents obtained by The Blast, the rapper, actor and former Executive Vice President of Death Row Records has claimed he split from wife Jovan Brown years earlier than their reported 2017 split, and that he continued to help with medical bills following the breakup.

Brown, who has been diagnosed with an incurable form of cancer, married the rapper, real name Ricardo Emmanuel Brown, in 2007, and reportedly took care of his business matters and personal affairs for 16 years, is seeking $14,413 (£10,846) a month in spousal support from the rap star.

In documents filed earlier this month, Kurupt insisted he "absolutely did not terminate Respondent upon learning of her diagnosis," and says she was diagnosed several years after they split. He also claims he has loaned her money for medical expenses after Brown alleged he refused to pay for her medical bills or any living expenses, and blocked her access to money from their business accounts.

The former music executive insisted the couple has been living apart since 2010, and that Brown was in another relationship with a new man in 2012 for at least three years. She was reportedly dating ex-NBA star Gary Payton.

Kurupt has asked the court to deny her request for spousal support or attorney fees.

The case continues.
