The 'Justice League' actor joins the 'Ocean's 8' actress, who is cast as a journalist-turned-armed-dealer, in the film to be directed by 'Mudbound' filmmaker Dee Rees.

AceShowbiz - Ben Affleck has signed on to appear opposite Anne Hathaway in the forthcoming film adaptation of "The Last Thing He Wanted".

The project will be directed by "Mudbound" filmmaker Dee Rees, and is based on Joan Didion's 1996 novel.

Rees penned the film's screenplay with Marco Villalobos.

Set in the 1980s, the story centres on a journalist named Elena McMahon, played by Hathaway, who takes over her father's job as an arms dealer. As she settles into his role, she soon finds herself embedded in the real-life Iran-Contra affair - a scandal in which U.S. government officials secretly sold weapons to Iran during an arms embargo.

Details surrounding Affleck's character have yet to be released.
