William Stewart sued the actress, accusing her of lying about his behaviour and exaggerating other incidents for the sake of fame and money.

AceShowbiz - Tiffany Haddish is fighting back against her ex-husband after he filed a defamation suit regarding allegations of domestic abuse and harassment in her memoir.

The "Girls Trip" star opened up about the tough time she endured with her former spouse in her 2017 book, "The Last Black Unicorn", in which she refused to mention him by name.

However, Tiffany made it clear he was the only guy she had ever married, and in May, William Stewart came forward to sue Haddish, accusing her of lying about his behaviour and exaggerating other incidents for the sake of fame and money.

In his lawsuit, he took issue with statements that he choked, kidnapped, and stalked the comedienne, insisting they are all lies, but now Tiffany has hit back at Stewart, pointing out reasons for the case to be dismissed.

In her response, filed in Los Angeles on Friday, July 6, she notes how he failed to ask her to "clarify, correct or retract" the claims he is objecting to before filing suit, an action required by law.

Haddish acknowledges that Stewart reached out to her about the book, but he stopped short of asking for specifics to be changed, according to TMZ.com.

Stewart is suing for libel, slander and defamation, and demanding more than $1 million (£752,400) in damages.
