Gallagher and Ashcroft belt out some classics during their suprise performance, including Oasis' 'Wonderwall' and the Verve's 'Bittersweet Symphony'.

AceShowbiz - Rocker Liam Gallagher thrilled fans at his biggest solo show to date on Friday night (June 29) by taking them back to the dizzy days of Britpop in the mid-1990s.

As well as dotting Oasis tracks throughout his headline set at Finsbury Park in London, he also brought out The Verve star Richard Ashcroft as a surprise support act.

Gallagher and Ashcroft's former bands ruled the Britpop scene 20 years ago, and their performances featured classics from the era, like Oasis' "Wonderwall" and "Rock 'n' Roll Star" and The Verve's anthemic "Bittersweet Symphony".

Wolf Alice, Australian group the DMA's, and Loyle Carner also featured on Gallagher's festival bill.

The former Oasis frontman and Wolf Alice will head to Scotland overnight for the second day of the new TRNSMT festival in Glasgow. Gallagher is set to headline.

The Stereophonics topped the bill on the first day of the event on Friday night.
