AceShowbiz - Freeform has canceled Bella Thorne-starring series "Famous in Love". The series is axed after running for two seasons on the cable and satellite channel.

"We are proud to have had the opportunity to air 'Famous In Love'," the network said in a statement. "After many discussions we have made the difficult decision not to renew the show for a third season. We want to thank our colleagues at Warner Horizon and our incredible producers, writers, cast and crew, especially Marlene King, for their creativity, hard work and dedication."

Following the cancellation, showrunner King took to Twitter to share her thought on it. "I am deeply grateful for the #FamousInLove cast, crew and our passionate fans. I could not be more saddened by today's news," she wrote. "I love these characters and the wild ride they were taking us on. Thank you @warnerbrosTV for fighting the good fight with me. We gave it our all. Keep #Raige in your hearts and they will live on."

Reports of the cancellation had emerged online last week, though fans hoped that Freeform would never confirm the cancellation. Showrunner King also took to Twitter to rally fans. "We are still praying for our season 3. Feel free to join us," she said. The "Pretty Little Liars" creator also revealed that she actually had "such great story planned for season 3."

Based on Rebecca Serle's novel, "Famous in Love" is considered doing pretty well. The sophomore season of the series wrapped on a high note, thanks to their devoted fans. Bella also earned Teen Choice Award and MTV Movie and TV Award nominations for her role as Paige, college student who lands a starring role in a Hollywood blockbuster.

Also starring on the series were Carter Jenkins, Charlie Depew, Georgie Flores, Niki Koss, Pepi Sonuga, Keith Powers and Perrey Reeves. Alongside King, Melissa Carter served as showrunner while executive-producing with Miguel Arteta, Dan Farah and Serle. Long Lake Media, Farah Films and Carmina Productions, Inc. in association with Warner Horizon Scripted Television produced.
