'I've been sent scripts for 100 baseball movies and said no to 97 of them,' the actor reveals in a new interview.

AceShowbiz - Kevin Costner has turned down all the baseball movies he's been offered since starring in "Bull Durham", "Field of Dreams", and "For Love of the Game", because the stories didn't interest him.

The actor and filmmaker admits he has been inundated with scripts for sports films, but insists he has never really been Hollywood's Mr. Baseball.

"I've been sent scripts for 100 baseball movies and said no to 97 of them," he tells Parade magazine. "The three I've done, I don't see them as baseball movies. There's more to them. I respond to the stories."

And it's the same with Westerns following his Oscar-winning success with Dances With Wolves.

"I don't gravitate to Westerns," he adds. "They just find me."

Thanks to his varied career choices, Costner admits he's often surprised when he meets fans and they congratulate him on a movie they loved: "When people come up to me, I don't know what is going to come out of their mouths as their favourite," he smiles. "It could be JFK, it could be Open Range, it could be Waterworld. Sometimes The Postman is even someone's favourite. It makes me feel good."
