Movie

The one-and-a-half-minute video shows the dark alleys of a remote convent and reminds everyone to 'pray for forgiveness.'

AceShowbiz - Before "The Conjuring" and "Annabelle", there's "The Nun". Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first teaser trailer for "The Conjuring 2" spin-off that promises to reveal the "darkest chapter of 'The Conjuring' universe."

The video opens with a shot of the creepy titular nun a.k.a. Valak, while a young woman, in voiceover, shares her scary visions of an evil nun. An elderly woman with a hoarse voice continues later, "The abbey has a long history - not all of it good."

The young nun, played by Taissa Farmiga, is joined by two men as they search in the darkest alleys of a remote convent. The young nun is then seen walking alone in the dark, not aware that she's being followed by the evil nun, who then jumps out onto her. It ends with a tagline that reads, "Pray for forgiveness."

According to the official synopsis, "when a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows are sent by the Vatican to investigate. Together they uncover the order’s unholy secret. Risking not only their lives but their faith and their very souls, they confront a malevolent force in the form of the same demonic nun that first terrorized audiences in 'The Conjuring 2', as the abbey becomes a horrific battleground between the living and the damned. "

"The Nun" stars Oscar nominated Demian Bichir ("A Better Life") as Father Burke, Taissa Farmiga ("American Horror Story") as Sister Irene, and Jonas Bloquet ("Elle") as local villager Frenchie. The cast also includes Charlotte Hope ("Game of Thrones") as the abbey's Sister Victoria, Ingrid Bisu ("Toni Erdmann") as Sister Oana, and Bonnie Aarons reprising her "Conjuring 2" role as the title character.

Corin Hardy directs the movie from a screenplay by Gary Dauberman ("It") and story by James Wan and Gary Dauberman. Wan, who directed horror hits "The Conjuring" and its sequel, produces it along with Peter Safran, who has produced all the films in "The Conjuring" franchise.

"The Nun" is set to be unleashed in theaters across the nation on September 7.
