AceShowbiz - R&B star Trey Songz is facing a lawsuit from a police officer he allegedly assaulted at a Michigan concert in 2016.

The Bottoms Up hitmaker, real name Tremaine Neverson, was arrested for allegedly assaulting a police officer following an onstage meltdown in Detroit. Neverson was performing at the city's Joe Louis Arena in December, 2016, when sound engineers reportedly threatened to cut off his microphone when he ran past his curfew.

According to reports, the 33-year-old told the crowd he would "go crazy" if he was cut off. He then encouraged the audience to join him in taunting concert bosses and chanting, "Go ahead and cut me off!" The singer was then caught on camera jumping off the stage into the crowd as security staff tried to stop him and he appeared to throw items at police officials. He also hurled microphones and speakers off the stage, with one object striking a cop on the head.

Neverson was taken into custody for malicious destruction of property and resisting arrest, and was subsequently charged with aggravated assault and assaulting a police officer causing injury. In August (17), he pleaded guilty to two misdemeanour charges of disturbing the peace and was sentenced to 18 months probation.

He is now being sued by Sergeant Robert Avery, who has accused Neverson of punching him in the face. According to TMZ, Avery claims Trey struck him in the face while he was arresting him and he fell and hit his head on the concrete. The altercation reportedly caused bruising to Avery's face and a contusion, and he is now suing. However, it is unclear what he is seeking in the lawsuit.
