The singer-turned-fashion-designer claims Jeffrey Bowler and Bret Saxon tried to scam her out of $12 million for the sale of a majority stake in her brand The Jessica Simpson Collection.

AceShowbiz - Jessica Simpson is suing two "professional con-men" she claimed tried to scam her and her family out of $12 million (£9 million).

Through her company With You, Inc., the 37-year-old filed suit against Jeffrey Bowler and Bret Saxon after they alleged they are owed money from the sale of a majority stake in her brand The Jessica Simpson Collection, according to court documents obtained by The Blast.

The mother-of-two claimed the two men randomly met her father Joe in Beverly Hills back in 2010, and accuses the duo of befriending her father in order to eventually scam her out of millions.

In 2014, Simpson was in talks with a company called Sequential Brands Group, who was interested in purchasing a stake in her brand. The singer claimed Bowler and Saxon tried to insert themselves in the sale as soon as they heard of the plans.

Simpson said the two men reached out to Joe and asked him to put them in touch with her business manager, David Levin. After they met, Simpson claimed Saxon told Levin he would put him in touch with an executive at Sequential Brands Group.

According to court documents, Simpson said by arranging a meeting, Saxon and Bowler felt they were entitled to a 10 per cent finder's fee, citing a previous arrangement they claimed to have had with Joe.

Sequential Brands Group finalised the deal for a stake in Simpson's brand in 2015 for a reported $120 million (£90 million).

Simpson claimed that within weeks of closing the business deal, Saxon showed up to her business manager's office demanding his 10 per cent, despite allegedly having no part in the eventual arrangement.

The singer said she later learned Sequential Brands Group paid Saxon $250,000 (£187,000) for introducing them to Levin.

Bowler originally sued Simpson, her family and company for his alleged $12 million finder's fee, and alleged he made a deal with Joe for a 10 per cent finder's fee if he could find a buyer for The Jessica Simpson Collection.

Simpson is seeking unspecified damages.
