The 'Goosebumps' star gives a special shout out to the Santa Fe students, the first responders and the school staff for their resilience.

AceShowbiz - Rapper Travis Scott honoured the "heroes" who survived the recent school shooting in his native Texas as they attended the Houston Rockets' NBA Playoffs game on Thursday, May 24.

The Goosebumps star was a special guest at Game 5 of his hometown basketball team's Western Conference Finals against the Golden State Warriors, the first to be played in Houston since 10 people were gunned down at the nearby Santa Fe High School on 18 May.

Before the game tipped off at the Toyota Center, a moment of silence was held for the victims of the tragedy, while choir members from the school were invited to perform the U.S. National Anthem.

Travis then took the opportunity to give a special shout out to all of the Santa Fe students, including many seated in the stands, as well as the first responders and the school staff for their resilience.

"Hey, turn the lights onto the Santa Fe seniors over there, to the amazing (first responder) officers, to the (school) principals," the rapper instructed arena officials.

Travis then expressed his admiration for the group's refusal to let the shooting break them down.

"We love you," he told them. "You're the strongest people on this earth, thank you for being heroes to all of us."

The home supporters were eventually given another reason to smile as the Rockets beat the Warriors 98 to 94 to lead the series three games to two.
