Janelle disagrees with the rapper who supports President Trump, Saying, 'I believe in free thinking but I don't believe in free thinking if it's rooted in or at the expense of the oppressed.'

AceShowbiz - Janelle Monae has made it clear that she disagrees with Kanye West's views regarding racism and oppression. The rapper has been causing quite the controversy via his Twitter feed in the past week, and in one post he declared, "I love the way Candace Owens thinks," referring to the African-American activist and supporter of U.S. President Donald Trump who thinks that black people focus on their slavery roots and let themselves be oppressed.

During a radio interview on Hot 97's "Ebro in the Morning" on Wednesday, April 25, Janelle was asked about the discussion and Kanye's tweet, and she made it clear she didn't agree with their views. "Well, one, I don't agree with him if that is true and he is supporting anybody who thinks that, then I don't agree with him at all," she said. "I believe in free thinking but I don't believe in free thinking if it's rooted in or at the expense of the oppressed."

"If your free thinking is used as fuel by oppressors to continue to oppress black people and minorities, I think it's bulls**t and it's not OK. I will speak out against it and I will think freely and tell you that I don't agree with you."

Janelle isn't the first celebrity to speak out about Kanye's recent Twitter spree. On Wednesday evening, he reiterated his support for Trump and shared a picture of him wearing a cap bearing Trump's slogan "Make America Great Again".

His wife Kim Kardashian assured her followers he wasn't mentally ill, just expressing his opinion, while John Legend seemed to declare he had differing beliefs to his good friend.

However, Chance the Rapper came to his defense, stating, "Black people don't have to be democrats."

While filmmaker Jordan Peele said he'd been inspired by Kanye's references to the "sunken place," a plot device in his movie "Get Out", and was now starting work on the sequel.
