Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, James McAvoy, Sarah Paulson and director M. Night Shyamalan were on hand to present the trailer at the convention.

AceShowbiz - Following the success of 2016's "Split", M. Night Shyamalan returns with its follow-up "Glass", which brings back James McAvoy's Kevin Wendell Crumb, a man with multiple personalities, as well as Bruce Willis' David Dunn and Samuel L. Jackson's Elijah Price from his 2000 movie "Unbreakable". The movie won't arrive until next year, but audience at CinemaCon on Wednesday, April 25 got the first official look at the movie.

Director Shyamalan as well as stars McAvoy, Willis, Jackson and Sarah Paulson were all on hand to introduce the trailer. "It's about time I got the title role in my own motherf***ing movie," said Jackson of the movie, which is titled after the nickname of his character Elijah.

The footage opens with Paulson's red-haired character introducing herself as Dr. Ellie Staple, a psychiatrist who specializes "in those individuals who believe they are superheroes." Sitting across from her are Mr. Glass, David and Kevin.

The trailer sees the three characters dealing with their extraordinary abilities, climbing on ceilings, bending iron poles and beating up bad guys. "The three of you have convinced yourselves that you have extraordinary gifts, like something out of a comic book," Dr. Staple says.

She then tells Patricia, one of Kevin's personalities, "What I am questioning is your belief that you are something more than human." A deeper voice from Kevin's other personality, Beast, answers, "And yet it is true."

Mr. Glass is also seen saying, "I have been waiting for the world to see that we exist," as he seeks a partnership with the Beast. "That sounds like the bad guys teaming up," he proclaims. Anya Taylor-Joy's Casey Cooke, who survived after being trapped in Kevin's lair in "Split", is also featured in the trailer, standing in a comic book shop with friends.

Sharing where he got the idea for "Unbreakable" and "Split", Shyamalan said, "Eighteen years ago, I based a movie around a crazy idea: what if comic books were based on reality? And in 'Unbreakable', I tried to tell the origin story of a superhero that lives in the real world, David Dunn, played by Bruce Willis."

He then based "Split" on "another crazy question: what if the afflictions, the disorders that society thinks makes a person damaged or broken actually are gifts that make them exceptional?" The filmmaker said the essence of "Split" is "the origin story for an anarchist that could be good or could be bad."

As for "Glass", Paulson posed this question, "What if these real-life supervillains and superheroes are somehow locked up together? I mean, what could go wrong?" Shyamalan called "Glass" "the first truly grounded comic book movie."

The thriller film is set to arrive January 18, 2019 in the U.S.
