'You became a household name, that's really what happened,' the Atlanta-born rapper tells Meek following his prison release.

AceShowbiz - Rapper T.I. celebrated pal Meek Mill's release from jail on Tuesday, April 24 by calling him and posting their chat online. The hitmaker walked free after spending five months behind bars, and T.I. caught up with Meek as he made his way to a Philadelphia 76ers basketball game on Tuesday evening.

The Georgia-born MC posted the screenshot of their chat to his Instagram account. He joked, "I told you not to take that 10 years of probation. I told you, 'Ask the people if you can do two years right quick'".

"You really walked that s**t down better than I could have. I ain't going to lie to you," T.I. who has also spent time behind bars on illegal weapons charges, added. "You became a household name, that's really what happened. Like before, you had to be a fan of rap to know who the f**k you was, now you became a household name".

Famous pals Kevin Hart and Jay-Z were also celebrating Meek's release. Hart, who visited the rapper in jail on Tuesday morning, wrote, "Meek Mill is Frrrrreeeeeeee... I just left from seeing him in jail... and we were just told that he is being released. Wooooooow... Stand Up Philadelphia!!!!!!"

Meanwhile, Jay-Z, who Meek Mill thanked personally in his prison release statement, put out a statement, which read, "Today, Meek Mill, a son of Philadelphia, is a free man. He was incarcerated unjustly and caught in a probation trap for years by a broken system. Now we can celebrate his release. We thank every individual that has supported and fought alongside Meek every step of the way".

Jay has been an outspoken supporter since the rap star was first locked up, and in November, he wrote a piece for the New York Times, in which he attacked the U.S. justice system and accused lawmakers of picking on black people.
