Amazon's 'Lorena' will be centering on Lorena Bobbitt, who made headlines after cutting off her husband penis after he allegedly raped her back in 1993.

AceShowbiz - A docuseries centering on Lorena Bobbitt is coming with Jordan Peele ("Get Out") serving as executive producer. The series, which is set to air on Amazon, will be chronicling the nation's ongoing issue with domestic and sexual assault.

The network announced on Thursday, April 5 that it has greenlit "Lorena". "When we hear the name 'Bobbitt' we think of one of the most sensational incidents to ever be catapulted into a full blown media spectacle," Peele said. "With this project, Lorena has a platform to tell her truth as well as engage in a critical conversation about gender dynamics, abuse, and her demand for justice. This is Lorena's story and we're honored to help her tell it."

The four-part series will delve into the notorious case of Lorena Bobbitt, who made headlines after cutting off her husband's, John, penis back in 1993. Bobbitt said that she did that to defend herself as John raped her. The jury eventually decided that Bobbitt could not be held responsible.

Josh Rofe is tapped to direct the docuseries. Win Rosenfeld, meanwhile, joins Peele to executive produce for the latter's Monkeypaw Productions. Rofe also executive produces alongside Steven J. Berger for Number 19, Jenna Santoianni and Tom Lesinski for Sonar Entertainment.

"Jordan has proven himself as a captivating voice of social critique and we are excited to work with him on this project," said Heather Schuster, head of unscripted for Amazon Originals. " 'Lorena' reframes Lorena Bobbitt's story around issues of sexism and domestic abuse and offers Prime members an exclusive new view into how America got her story wrong and maybe continues to get it wrong."

"Lorena" will be the next project for Peele following his acclaimed thriller "Get Out" which won Best Original Screenplay at the 2018 Academy Awards. Peele's other credits include TBS' "The Last OG", HBO's "Lovecraft Country and an upcoming reboot of "Twilight Zone" on CBS All Access.

As of now, Amazon has yet to set release date for "Lorena".
