David Matthews, whose son James married the sister of Kate Middleton, was arrested in France and charges with the rape of a teenager in Paris and another in St. Bart's.

AceShowbiz - David Matthews, the multimillionaire father-in-law of Pippa Middleton, was arrested by Paris judicial police on Tuesday, Mach 27, and charged with the rape of minor. It was said that the alleged incident occurred sometime between 1998 to 1999.

The 74-year-old father of James, who married Pippa in 2017, was arrested when he was at Orly Airport, Paris. He was put in custody for full 48 hours before being released on bail. The official charge against David was "a rape of a minor by a person having authority over her."

He is accused of attacking a teenager in Paris and another in St. Bart's, though he denied all the accusations. An official said that David was questioned three days earlier by special police who handle cases involving minors. The rape case is reportedly being dealt with by the Juvenile Protection Brigade (BPM).

A spokesman for the tycoon said to Daily Mail, "David Matthews categorically denies the allegation and unequivocally contests the untrue and scandalous accusation."

An alleged witness reported him to the police back in 2017 and has been under investigation since September last year. It prompted David to report to the judges in Paris on Tuesday. The site stated that France authorities will be investigating the case in six months before deciding whether or not he will be brought to trial.

It is currently remains to be seen if David, who lives permanently on St. Bart's with wife Jane, has retained his passport or if he will be able to travel home.

David's son James tied the knot with Pippa, whose sister Kate Middleton is the wife of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge, in a lavish wedding on May 20, 2017 in Berkshire, England. It was said that fund manager James gave Pippa an engagement ring which cost a whopping $280,000.
