The 'Good Will Hunting' star's move to Australia is rumored to be a way for him to flee from Trump's administration.

AceShowbiz - Matt Damon is rumored to be moving to Australia. Words are the move is his attempt to flee from President Donald Trump's administration because he is upset with him. In addition, he has been criticizing the president even before the 2016 election.

The 47-year-old actor has reportedly purchased a property in Byron Bay, New South Wales, next door to his BFF Chris Hemsworth. A source told Page Six that "The Martian" actor told his friends and colleagues in Hollywood that he moved the family to Australia because he disagreed with the president's policies. The source added, "Matt's saying the move will not impact his work as he will travel to wherever his projects are shooting. He's also telling friends he wants to have a safe place to raise his kids."

However, his representative Jennifer Allen slammed the rumor. She wrote in an e-mail to the Globe, "Matt has visited Australia several times recently, but he has not bought a house there nor is he moving there."

The rumor stemmed from the fact that he is critical of Trump. The actor, who has four daughters with his wife Luciana Barroso, was "nervous" at the prospect of the 2016 election when Trump was a candidate for president. He said at the time, "There's no way we can let this guy be the (president)." He added, "To let that dude have the nuclear football, are you kidding me? He's impulsive and rash, and doesn't seem to think deeply about too many things." He continued, "He is obviously not a career politician, he has been very occupied with his own business interest, which are relatively narrow given the scope of what a president actually has to deal with... He's just got a lot of work cut out for him."

Matt was recently seen on big screen playing Paul Safranek in "Downsizing". He also starred as Gardner Lodge in "Suburbicon" and made cameo appearance in "Thor: Ragnarok". He will make a cameo appearance in "Ocean's 8", reprising his role as Linus Caldwell. The movie is set for release on June 8 in the United States.
