'Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald' First Trailer Forces Newt to Pick a Side
Movie

The approximately two-minute video sees Jude Law's portrayal of a young Dumbledore, Newt's reunion with Jacob, and Grindelwald's new dramatic look among other things.

AceShowbiz - The highly-anticipated trailer for "Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald" is here for "Harry Potter" fans' viewing pleasure. Released on Tuesday, March 13 as promised, the video debuts Jude Law as a young Albus Dumbledore.

It appears that Dumbledore recruits Newt Scamander, still portrayed by Eddie Redmayne, for a mission that sends him to Paris. "I can't move against Grindelwald," Dumbledore tells Newt. "It has to be you."

The future-Hogwarts headmaster is seen visited by a group, who questions him about Newt, in a familiar Hogwarts classroom. The group is led by Torquil Travers (Cornell John). The Travers family is one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight pure-blood families in the Wizarding World who supports Voldemort during his time. The scene suggests that a war is brewing, with Newt being forced to pick a side.

Newt will once again take Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler), his No-Maj friend, along with him on his adventure. Another scene features Newt and his older brother Theseus Scamander (Callum Turner), an Auror, in what looks like a battle against someone unseen.

There's also a glimpse of Zoe Kravitz as Leta Lestrange and Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) gathering his army with one of his trusted followers Vinda Rosier (Poppy Corby-Tuech) by his side. Toward the end of the video, Grindelwald looks different with his messy hair as he's being transported via coach and guarded by two aurors who keep their wands on him.

And of course, you can't have a "Fantastic Beasts" movie without the magical creatures. In the trailer, Thestrals which fans first saw in "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix", a phoenix and an underwater creature are making a brief appearance.

At the end of the first film, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them", the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander. But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.

In an effort to thwart Grindelwald's plans, Albus Dumbledore enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

David Yates returns to serve as director, with J.K. Rowling writing the script. Ezra Miller returns as Credence, Katherine Waterston reprises her role as Tina Goldstein, and Alison Sudol a.k.a. A Fine Frenzy is back as Tina's sister Queenie, joined by Claudia Kim as Maledictus, Carmen Ejogo as Seraphina Picquery, Kevin Guthrie as Mr. Abernathy and many more.

The sequel to the 2016 hit fantasy film is set to hit theaters across the nation on November 16.
