Bringing up Ally Sheedy, who posted vague tweets after his Golden Globe win, Franco says on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert', 'I have no idea why she was upset.'

AceShowbiz - James Franco has responded to sexual harassment allegations which were brought to light after his Golden Globe win. Appearing on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on Tuesday, January 9, the actor/director took the opportunity to address the backlash he received on Twitter following the Sunday night ceremony.

The multi-hypenated actor was asked about the criticism he received for wearing a Time's Up pin in support of sexual harassment and assault awareness at the 2018 Golden Globe Awards. "I haven't read them. I've heard about them," he said.

Bringing up Ally Sheedy who posted vague tweets about him during the ceremony, Franco said, "Okay, first of all, I have no idea what I did to Ally Sheedy, I directed her in a play Off-Broadway. I had nothing but a great time with her, total respect for her. I have no idea why she was upset."

Sheedy, who starred on "The Breakfast Club" and worked with Franco in 2014's Off-Broadway play "The Long Shrift", wrote in now-deleted tweets, "Why is James Franco allowed in? Said too much," and "James Franco just won. Please never ever ask me why I left the film/TV business." Commenting on her tweets, Franco said, "She took the tweet down. I don't know. I can't speak for her, I don't know."

Other women, Sarah Tither-Kaplan and Violet Paley, made bolder accusations against Franco. Regarding these, "The Deuce" star responded, "The others... look, in my life, I pride myself on taking responsibility for things that I've done. I have to do that to maintain my well-being. I do it whenever I know that there is something wrong or needs to be changed, I make it a point to do it."

"The things that I heard that were on Twitter are not accurate, but I completely support people coming out and being able to have a voice because they didn't have a voice for so long," he added. "So I don't want to, you know, shut them down in any way. It's, I think, a good thing and I support it."

As reported before, Sarah Tither-Kaplan claimed she felt like she had no choice to turn down a nude scene when working together with Franco in a film. Meanwhile, Violet Paley accused "The Disaster Artist" actor of sexually assaulting her and trying to lure her 17-year-old friend to his hotel room once.
