'I've been practicing for a long time,' says the 54-year-old actor, announcing that his 31-year-old fiancee is pregnant with their first child together.

AceShowbiz - Finally! John Stamos is going to be a father for the first time, at age 54. Speaking to PEOPLE, the "Fuller House" actor reveals that he "always wanted to be a dad. Clearly I had to do some work on myself, first."
Opening up about how he and fiance Caitlin McHugh are preparing to expand their family, John tells the outlet, "We have the same morals and the same values, that all clicked nicely. So we said, 'Oh, well, maybe we should have a family.' "
John recounts Caitlin apparently suggested that they should have a little one before tying the knot. " 'Maybe we should have a kid [before we get married]' and I said, 'Why?' " the actor recalls, revealing his fiancee jokingly responded, "Because you're old."
John goes on telling the publication that he has "a youthful thing. People say, 'Oh, you look young. You'll start believing you're gonna live to be 150.' And then you wake up and go, 'No, man, this is it. This is not a rehearsal.' "
The "Scream Queens" actor admits that he felt "that ship has sailed" when it came to children, until his girlfriend found out she was pregnant. "The pregnancy happened. Then, I said, I better have a ring on her finger because it's the right thing to do, and I wanted to marry her anyway," he says. "So I called her parents to ask, and it was like, 'You better!' "
John popped the question at Disneyland in late October. The actor announced the engagement via Instagram, sharing a cute illustration of a couple in front of Cinderella's castle in Disneyland and writing in the caption, "I asked...she said yes! ...And we lived happily ever after," adding an emoji of a ring.
John has been dating Caitlin since early last year. But the former "Two and a Half Men" star and the beautiful actress, who once appeared in the same "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" episode back in 2011, didn't go public with their romance until last March.
