The comic book author promises a big announcement about the third 'Kick-Ass' movie and a possible spin-off next week.

AceShowbiz - Plans to make "Kick-Ass 3" were stalled after the second film didn't quite meet expectations. Lionsgate has since moved on with another franchise from Millarworld, "Kingsman", but now it seems that another "Kick-Ass" film and a possible spin-off are on the way.
Mark Millar teased an announcement about the project(s) with his tweets. He posted a picture of the movie featuring the title character (Aaron Johnson) and Hit-Girl (Chloe Moretz), and wrote along with it, "Right, this brilliance won't write itself. Time to help get a press release together for the big Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl news next week..."

Millarworld and its properties had been sold to Netflix, but it looked like the deal didn't include "Kingsman" and "Kick-Ass". However, that doesn't stop speculation that the new "Kick-Ass" movie and a possible spin-off centering on Hit-Girl will be heading to the streaming giant.
The first "Kick-Ass" movie was released in 2010, with Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Nicolas Cage and Mark Strong also among the cast. Made with production budget of $30 million, the movie was considered a box office success as it amassed $96 million worldwide.
A sequel, "Kick-Ass 2", followed in 2013 but couldn't repeat the success of its predecessor. The R-rated action-comedy superhero flick was largely panned by critics and only collected $60 million worldwide on a $28 million budget.
Mark Millar had initially planned to make a trilogy based on "Kick-Ass" and later revealed his plans to make a prequel centering on the origin story of Hit-Girl and Big Daddy (Cage). However, Moretz once hinted that she was not interested in reprising the role of Hit-Girl.
"Sadly, I think I'm done with the character," she told Digital Spy in 2014. "Hit-Girl was a very cool character, but I don't think there will be any more movies. You make these movies for the fanboys, but nowadays everyone seems to pirate them rather than watch them in the movie theater."
