'Suicide Squad 2' May Introduce Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as Black Adam
Movie

There is a possibility that The Rock will make his debut as Black Adam in the upcoming sequel to DC's 'Suicide Squad'.

AceShowbiz - Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will not be seen in upcoming "Shazam". His DC standalone film "Black Adam" also still has a long way to go. But the former wrestler may make his debut as DC Universe's super-villain in "Suicide Squad" sequel. A few insiders, who are familiar with the idea, told TheWrap that Warner Bros. was eyeing "Suicide Squad 2" as an ideal place to introduce Black Adam, who is known to be the main nemesis to Shazam.

The insiders said that the current plan for the sequel is about a task given to Suicide Squad members to track down a weapon of mass destruction. That weapon is Black Adam himself. Johnson, through an interview with Fandango, had hinted about what was going to happen. He said, "We have a really cool surprise for Black Adam that I can't reveal, in terms of where we will see Black Adam being introduced."

The idea of putting Suicide Squad against Black Adam may not sound like a fair fight, but this shouldn't be too much of an issue. The insiders stated that the villain's part in this film shouldn't take too much time to shoot, implying that Johnson's role in the next "Suicide Squad" installment would be minor. It's minor enough so it could fit his busy schedule, which includes fifth season of HBO's "Ballers", Disney's "Jungle Cruise"and his "Fast and Furious" spin-off with Jason Statham for next year.

The DC film, which consists of anti-hero team, is a good start to finally introduce Johnson as Black Adam. Warner Bros. reportedly has been trying to make Johnson officially a part of DC Extended Universe for a while. The actor has been attached to play the villain since 2008, but up until now, there is no writer or filmmaker assigned for the production of "Black Adam".

This news is not yet confirmed by the studio and the plans may change between now and when the production finally begins. TheWrap reported that "Suicide Squad 2" is scheduled for an October 2018 production start, a 7-month delay of its initial production plan. The delay may be caused by the studio's current work on "Black Adam" or the schedules of "Suicide Squad" stars, or Warner Bros. simply needed more time to plan the future of DC Extended Universe after "Justice League".

"Suicide Squad 2", written and directed by Gavin O'Connor ("The Accountant"), does not have a release date yet.
