AceShowbiz - Yes, it's confirmed, people! Meghan McCain confirmed the recent engagement report as she announced the exciting news during Thursday, November 2 episode of "The View". The new co-host of the daytime talk show said, "OK, so you may have read something on the Internet last night -- I am engaged."
Still not revealing the name of her fiance, the 33-year-old former Fox News anchor continued, "We've been together for years and we have been engaged for a while. It was a secret, I was hoping to get married and people wouldn't find out, but people talk sometimes." She went on gushing, "I love him very much and I'm happy."
The "Dirty Sexy Politics" author explained how he met her fiance, who is said to be Ben Domenech, a conservative writer and publisher of online magazine The Federalist. "Well, we were at Mayo Clinic and my father [Republican Sen. John McCain] had his scan," she said, referring to her dad's brain cancer treatments. "We got engaged because we decided to sort of celebrate life and celebrate being alive. It's not the most romantic story, but he is my partner."
Meghan added that she "never thought" she would get married after being single "for so long." She continued, "I just want the single girls out there to know that I don't consider this an achievement; it's just a part of my life right now and I'm very happy."
She concluded with a heartfelt message for everyone who's single out there, "Wait for people who love strong women -- the men who love strong, independent women are out there. Don't settle for less."
Previous report stated that Meghan and the 35-year-old writer had been dating for a while, though they opted to keep their romance under the radar. In addition to working for The Federalist, Ben is working on The Transom as writer of political insider.
