The Bradley Cooper and Lady GaGa-led musical has moved up its release date, while the upcoming biopic starring Margot Robbie will open in U.S. theaters this December.

AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. has set a new release date for "A Star Is Born" remake starring Stefani Germanota (Lady GaGa) and Bradley Cooper, who is also serving as a director. The musical, which is based on William Wellman's 1937's movie of the same name, has been moved from its original date of September 28, 2018 to a summer release date of May 18, 2018.

According to Deadline, the studio was "blown away" upon seeing an early cut of the film and wanted to get it on screens as soon as possible. With its new release date, which occurs coincidentally during the Cannes Film Festival, the film will be up against Sony/Screen Gems' thriller "Slender Man" and an untitled Laika Studios project from Focus Features.

In "A Star Is Born", GaGa portrays an aspiring singer, while Cooper plays the aging rocker she falls in love with. The rocker helps her launch her career while his own is in a downward spiral. In addition to starring in and directing, Cooper serves as a producer alongside Billy Gerber, Todd Phillips, Lynette Howell Tayor and Jon Peters, with Basil Iwanyk executive producing.

Another upcoming film has also got a new release date. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Tonya Harding biopic "I, Tonya" gets a 2017 awards-qualifying release date. The movie starring Margot Robbie as the disgraced figure skater is set for a December 8 release. This puts the film in the running for the 90th Academy Awards.

The film will face some formidable competitors, as Guillermo del Toro's "The Shape of Water" and Ridley Scott's "All the Money in the World" are released on that date. James Franco-starring "The Disaster Artist" opens a week before, while "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" is coming a week later on September 15.

"I, Tonya" will open in New York and Los Angeles on December 8, with a platform rollout that will continue into January. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film centers on the true story of former figure skater Tonya Harding (Robbie).

She and her ex-husband Jeff Gilloly (Sebastian Stan) hired a man to break the leg of Harding's biggest rival Nancy Kerrigan, during 1994 Winter Olympics in Norway. Harding was banned from joining any competition ever since. Meanwhile, Kerrigan managed to recover and take home the silver medal at the event that year.
