'Equalizer 2' Bringing Back These Two Key Actors

Melissa Leo and Bill Pullman have been confirmed to return for the follow-up to the 2014 neo-noir vigilante action thriller.

AceShowbiz - Two more actors have been confirmed to return for "The Equalizer 2". Deadline has reported that Oscar-winning actress Melissa Leo and "Independence Day: Resurgence" actor Bill Pullman have sealed the deal to reprise their roles as Susan and Brian Plummer respectively in "The Equalizer" sequel.

Melissa and Bill will reunite with Denzel Washington, who is set to reprise his role as Robert McCall in the follow-up to the 2014 neo-noir vigilante action thriller. Susan and Brian are the great friends of Denzel's Robert during his counter-terrorism days. In the first movie, Susan was Robert's handler.

The returning actors join newcomer Pedro Pascal in the cast. The "Narcos" star has been tapped to play the antagonist in the sequel. Other actors rounding out the cast of the upcoming film haven't announced yet. Filming is expected to begin on November 14 with Antoine Fuqua and Richard Wenk returning as director and screenwriter respectively.

Plot details of the sequel are still scarce, other than that Denzel will reprise his role as the former special ops agent who now helps those who can't defend themselves. Details on Pedro's villainous character haven't unveiled yet. The film is scheduled to open in theaters across the United States on September 14, 2018, with Denzel producing along with Jason Blumenthal, Todd Black, Steve Tisch, Mace Neufeld, Alex Siskin and Tony Eldridge.

Melissa is currently starring in Showtime's series "I'm Dying Up Here", which will get is international premiere in Toronto and will be distributed by Sony Pictures Classics. Her other credits include "The Big Short", "London Has Fallen" and "Snowden".

Bill, meanwhile, can next be seen opposite Emma Stone and Steve Carell in "Battle of the Sexes", due out September 22. He also stars as the titular Lefty Brown in A24's "The Ballad of Lefty Brown" which will open later on December 15. His other credits include "American Ultra" and "LBJ". He appeared on "The Sinner" as Detective Harry Ambrose.
