Director/EP Jeff Schaffer teased that there would be 'a ton of stories this year' and 'you'll never expect where it ends' once the revived comedy kicks off on October 1 on HBO.

AceShowbiz - The highly anticipated season nine of critically acclaimed "Curb Your Enthusiasm" will feature a slew of famous faces. During Television Critics Association's summer press tour on Wednesday, July 26, its maestro Larry David alongside co-stars JB Smoove, Jeff Garlin, Susie Essman and director/EP Jeff Schaffer announced that Jimmy Kimmel, Elizabeth Banks, Bryan Cranston, Ed Begley Jr. and Carrie Brownstein were among the stars tapped to make an appearance in the new season.

When asked why he decided to revive the comedy after six years, David said, "I'm not a misser. I don't really miss things, people that much, but I was missing it and I was missing these idiots so I thought, 'Yeah, what the hell?' " The "Seinfield" co-creator added, "And I got tired of people asking is the show coming back? I couldn't get asked that question anymore and I wasn't ready to say 'No, never.' "

David revealed that he had been writing down ideas on his notebook since season 8 finale. Schaffer added that there were "a ton, a ton of stories this year." He went on saying, "The shows are chock-full. They're dense. … Just a lot of stuff to get out."

"You're going to find out very quickly when the show starts what he's been up to for last five years and what everyone has been up to for the last five years," Schaffer said. "Once the show starts to air, it will be self-evident. It goes to this really strange, fun, crazy place and then you'll never expect where it ends."

"It really thematically follows 'Pirates of the Caribbean'," star and executive producer Garlin added. "It's more like the last one than the first few."

Also set to guest star in the upcoming ten-episode ninth season are Lauren Graham, Nick Offerman, Nasim Pedrad, Elizabeth Perkins, June Diane Raphael and Judith Sheindlin. They will join fan-favorite recurring guests Cheryl Hines, Richard Lewis, Bob Einstein, Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen.

Season nine of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" premieres on Sunday, October 1 at 10 P.M. on HBO.
