The 'Sungkyunkwan Scandal' star said he initially wanted to announce the wedding after the premiere of his new movie, but changed his mind after seeing rumors about them.

AceShowbiz - Song Joong Ki revealed why he and Song Hye Kyo decided to reveal their upcoming wedding earlier than their initial plan. The "Nice Guy" star said that he told Hye Kyo to announce their wedding because he saw a lot of groundless rumors about them.
Joong Ki said that the rumors made him upset. "I wanted to announce it after the premiere of 'The Battleship Island,' but things don't work out the way you want them to. After thinking about it for a while, I told Song Hye Kyo that we should announce it," he revealed. "I feel apologetic for announcing it right before my [movie's] premiere, but marriage is an important matter. There were many groundless rumors about Song Hye Kyo and me, and we were upset about that. That's why we decided to reveal it sooner."
The 31-year-old actor shared that he was still unable to believe that he would be a married man soon. "Married people often say that [when you're engaged,] the marriage doesn't feel real until the day of the wedding," he said. "It's the same for us. It hit me when I was walking here from the parking lot and people said to me, 'Congratulations.' When fans or other people congratulate me with a smiling face, I'm filled with an emotion greater than gratitude. It makes me think that I should live a happy [married] life."
Joong Ki wasn't the only one who found his upcoming wedding hard to believe. Lee Kwang Soo, who previously expressed his "jealousy" toward the couple, was still in disbelief as well. He said that Kwang Soo texted him the day before, writing, "I can't believe you're getting married." Joong Ki recalled, "[Kwang Soo] seemed to be tipsy. Some people can't believe it. I guess it hasn't hit them yet. The most common reaction I get from people is 'Congratulations.' "
