Comic-Con: 'Riverdale' Season 2 Trailer Hints at Darker Twist

'People will look back at this as the exact moment that last bit of Riverdale's innocence finally died,' Jughead says in the trailer.

AceShowbiz - If you think the biggest murder mystery on "Riverdale" has been revealed, think again! The first look at the show's season 2 was debuted at the San Diego Comic-Con in the form of trailer and it picks up where the first season finale left off, with the shooting of Fred (Luke Perry) and the robbing of Pop's.

Archie (KJ Apa) takes his father to the hospital where he's soon joined by his friends, Veronica (Camila Mendes), Betty (Lili Reinhart) and Jughead (Cole Sprouse). He recalls the shooting and seems hesitant to continue, making Judghead suspicious that Archie hides something.

Meanwhile, Archie lives in fear that the shooter would come back to kill the witnesses. Considering the recent events in the town, Judghead thinks that the latest incident may have been a hit rather than an act of random violence. "People will look back at this as the exact moment that last bit of Riverdale's innocence finally died," he additionally says in voiceover.

To lighten up the mood, the trailer was shared along with blooper reel from season 1.

At the panel, executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa promised that fans would find out the fate of Fred soon when the show returns with its second season. "We're going to find out Fred's ultimate fate at the end of the premiere," he told the crowd. "The first episode is basically Archie, the gang, all the town sitting and waiting to find out what's going to happen with Fred."

Apa, meanwhile, hinted at Archie showing his darker side. "There's a switch that goes off, and I think it's a different side of Archie we haven't seen yet," he said.

"Riverdale" season 2 premieres Wednesday, October 11 at 8 P.M. on The CW.
