During the panel, EP Jason Rothenberg revealed that the upcoming season 5 would include flashbacks of 'emotional moments they've experienced in that six-year period.'

AceShowbiz - The cast members of The CW's apocaplyse drama "The 100", including Eliza Taylor, Bob Morley, Marie Avgeropoulos, Lindsey Morgan and Richard Harmon, gathered on Friday, July 21 for the show's San Diego Comic-Con panel. The cast, joined by EP Jason Rothenberg and Dean White, unfolded the mystery about the prison ship and the people on it as well as teased all kinds of craziness to come in upcoming season 5.

"The prison ship [from the season finale] is from Earth," Rothenberg revealed during the panel. "They're from our time, so they're from before the first apocalypse. That means its probably cryo. They were in hypersleep. They've come back to this planet that they don't recognize and has been destroyed, and all that's left is this garden of Eden that Clarke's been living in, and there's not enough room for everyone."

Season 4 finale revealed that the show would be having a big time-jump, with Clarke finding herself as a surrogate mother to a Nightblood called Madi (Imogen Tear) six years later. The panel played footage which saw Madi talking about the "101," monsters and "bad children." Taylor said with a laugh, "It's nice to be playing someone a little closer to my age," before adding, "It's exciting to see me as a 24-year-old woman who has gone through so much, and she's taking on this maternal role looking after this tiny Nightblood."

Rothenberg revealed that the arrival of the prison ship served as a nice parallel to the first season, when The 100 arrived on Earth. "Five seasons ago, these guys were the prisoners, and now Clarke is the Grounder in the woods watching these people step out," he explained. "That parallel will continue for sure. Bellamy is going to have to help Clarke come to see that we have to do things different now. She just wants to protect her child. She just wants to protect her home."

Just like Clarke, other characters might also sport new looks after the ensuing six years. While the cast admitted that they had no idea what they would look like, Rothenberg hinted at Octavia's cool hairstyle. "It's actually fun because usually, we're picking right back up where we left off," Rothenberg said. "This season is different, and I really talked to all of them about what do they want? Anything is possible after six years."

Fans seemingly wouldn't have to wait for a long time to discover what had happened in the past six years as the EP confirmed that season 5 would include "flashbacks for sure." He went on explaining, "There's a lot of very pivotal emotional moments they've experienced in that six-year period. We will come to understand how all of them became the characters we came to see in the premiere. So yes, that does include flashbacks."

"The 100" season 5 will premiere in midseason.
