Official: Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott Land Lead Roles in 'Aladdin'

Disney finds its Aladdin and Princess Jasmine in the 'Jack Ryan' actor and the 'Power Rangers' actress respectively for Guy Ritchie's upcoming live-action musical.

AceShowbiz - Disney announces the actors who will headline its upcoming "Aladdin" remake. Mena Massoud is signed on to play the titular street riffraff, Naomi Scott is tapped to portray his love interest Princess Jasmine, and Will Smith is confirmed for the role of Genie.

The announcement was made during Disney's D23 Expo on Saturday, July 15 in Anaheim, California. Casting for the villain Jafar and his sidekick Iago as well as the Sultan is still to be determined. Tom Hardy was rumored for the main baddie, but director Guy Ritchie remained silent on the report.

Mena Massoud will soon be seen on Amazon's "Jack Ryan" series starring John Krasinski. Meanwhile, Naomi Scott is known for her role as Kimberly Hart or the Pink Ranger in the big screen adaptation of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
