AceShowbiz - Quentin Tarantino is developing a new movie that will focus on the infamous Manson Family murders. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-winning filmmaker has written the script and will also serve as a director for the new project which title is still unknown.

Harvey and Bob Weinstein, who have produced and executive produced Tarantino's previous films, are also involved in the upcoming movie. According to THR, the project is currently being shopped to studios for co-financing, with the aim to start production in the summer of 2018.

Multiple sources have said that Tarantino is currently "putting the finishing touches on the scrip" and that Brad Pitt, who worked with the filmmaker on 2009's movie "Inglourious Basterds", and Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence have been approached to be involved in the project.

The untitled Manson Family murders project will be noteworthy for Tarantino as his first film based on true events. While plot details are still kept under wraps, the film will be most likely based on the 1969 murder spree conducted by four members of the Manson Family, a cult led by Charles Manson.

The murders took place in the home of actress Sharon Tate, the wife of director Roman Polanski, who was killed when she's eight months pregnant, alongside four others. Manson and other members of his "family" were sentenced to life imprisonment in 1971.
