The former pro soccer player has responded to the backlash and denied that he hired the royal residence for Harper's birthday bash over the weekend.

AceShowbiz - David Beckham and Victoria Adams' little daughter Harper just turned six last week, and she literally got a royal treatment for the special occasion. The Duchess of York and Prince Andrew allegedly hosted a birthday bash for Harper, who was joined by some of her school friends, at the Buckingham Palace. David later took to Instagram to share some moments from the party.

One photo saw David hugging his daughter in front of the royal residence. He captioned the pic, "Happy Birthday to our special little young lady... Such a special girl who brings so much joy and happiness into our lives.. Happy 6th birthday (I can't believe your 6 already) have the most amazing day we love you pretty lady."

Another photo was taken inside the palace, where Harper and her friends were greeted by Princess Eugenie of York. David wrote alongside the snap, "Lucky Harper meeting a real life princess at the Palace."

However, the photos later sparked backlash. "If you have enough money you can buy anything!!" an Instagram user commented, while another wrote, "Is this a new commercial venture by the Royal family or do all little princesses now get an invite?" Another user gave similar response, writing, "Party at Bucks Palace? Don't think they'd let me do that."

David then took to Instagram to share another picture and respond to the backlash. He denied that he hired the palace for Harper's party and claimed that his family was only invited for a tea party. "One last picture of the birthday girl... Just to be clear this wasn't the palace opening the gates for Harper's birthday party, this was a tea party where us and other guests were invited so it was a beautiful thing to do with My mum, Harper plus a few school friends... We were honored to be able to [be] there.. Beautiful tea party..," the former footballer wrote.

Sources close to Duchess of York insisted that it was a "family" event, saying, "Members of the Royal Family often invite friends for tea at the palace and the Beckhams are family friends. This was a treat for Harper and some of her friends." However, the sources admitted that David was not supposed to publish the photos. "It was very indiscreet for them to have posted pictures on a public forum of what was a private family event," they said.
