Adi Shankar, the producer of upcoming 'Castlevania', is set to produce an original story set in the famous action-adventure video game series developed by Ubisoft.

AceShowbiz - Following the release of "Assassin's Creed" feature film adaptation, it is reported that Ubisoft's famous action-adventure video game series is being developed into an animated TV series. Adi Shankar, the producer of upcoming animated series "Castlevania", is set to produce the series.

Shanker shares the news on his Facebook page, writing that he has selected his new project. "I played the first edition of 'Assassin's Creed' the year I moved to Los Angeles to pursue my dream. At that moment I knew absolutely no one in the industry and could never have imagined that one day Ubisoft would ask me to take the world of 'Assassin's Creed' and create an original story set in it as an anime series. If anyone tells you not to follow your passion in life they are wrong," he adds.

Although no detail is offered, Shankar mentions that the new series will be an original story set in the video game. It is possible for Shankar to come up with a new protagonist and era. It appears to be a smart move to take the video game series into an animated TV show, considering that the movie adaptation got off to a rocky start.

Released in 2016, the movie starred Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard. Despite the criticism, the movie managed to gross $240 million globally against a production budget of $125 million.

Meanwhile, the next "Assassin's Creed" video game, "Origins", is set to be released on October 27 to PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. "Origins" is set in Egypt circa 300 B.C., the earliest period the 10-year-old series has explored.
