The Duchess of Cambridge rocks a shorter do with loose waves as she starts her new role as Patron of Wimbledon.

AceShowbiz - Kate Middleton just cut her hair shorter for summer. The Duchess of Cambridge debuted her new do when enjoying a visit to Wimbledon on Monday, July 3. She looked fresh with her new locks, which are still as luscious as ever and styled with loose waves.

The wife of Prince William has been appointed as Patron of Wimbledon, taking over the responsibilities from Queen Elizabeth. She watched a tennis game between Andy Murray and Alexander Bublik in the royal box as she started her new role that day.

The Duchess also met with some of the ballboys and girls who will be helping out with the round of matches, Wimbledon officials and players. She looked excited when introduced to handsome Austrian player Dominic Thiem, who is currently ranked world No. 7.

She also met with Agnieszka Radwanska from Poland, ranked World No. 10, and asked the two tennis players if they were anxious about their upcoming sets. When they said they weren't scheduled to play until Tuesday, she replied, "That's why you're so relaxed!"

Kate was asked if she had some experience playing tennis. "Yes," she answered, "but not to any standard."

Prince William and Kate Middleton are scheduled for a tour of Germany and Poland which will kick off July 17. They will take their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, on the five-day trip.

"The Duke and Duchess are very much looking forward to this tour and are delighted with the exciting and varied programme that has been put together for it," said a Kensington Palace spokesperson. "They have decided that their children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte, will travel with them and we expect the children to be seen on at least a couple of occasions over the course of the week."
