Here's Why Calvin Harris 'Snapped' at Taylor Swift After Her Ghostwriting Claim

The 33-year-old DJ finally breaks his silence on his ghostwriting rant on Twitter last year, calling it as 'the wrong instinct' to protect his 'one talent in the world.'

AceShowbiz - Last year, Calvin Harris slammed his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift on Twitter after she claimed that she "secretly" co-wrote his smash hit song with Rihanna, "This Is What You Came for". However, the Scottish DJ has now realized that he crossed the line, and he is terribly sorry for his offensive rant at that time.

"It was completely the wrong instinct," Calvin tells GQ. "I was protecting what I see as my one talent in the world being belittled. It felt like things were piling on top of me and that was when I snapped."

"It's very difficult when something I consider so personal plays out very publicly. The aftermath of the relationship was way more heavily publicized than the relationship itself," he adds. "When we were together, we were very careful for it not to be a media circus. She respected my feelings in that sense. It took me a minute to realize that none of that matters."

He shares, "I'm a positive guy. For both of us, it was the wrong situation. It clearly wasn't right, so it ended, but all of the stuff that happened afterwards." The 33-year-old DJ also claims that he's "not good at being a celebrity" and that his rant last year was "a result of me succumbing to pressure."

After their breakup, things didn't look good between Calvin and Taylor. After Taylor confirmed that she wrote one of Calvin's songs, the DJ took to Twitter to blast his ex, claiming that she wanted to make him look bad. "Hurtful to me at this point that [Taylor] and her team would go so far out of their way to try and make ME look bad at this stage... I know you're off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy [Katy Perry] ETC but I'm not that guy, sorry. I won't allow it," he wrote.

At that time, Taylor was rumored to be dating British actor Tom Hiddleston. On his rant, Calvin also asked Taylor to focus on her new romance instead of trying to tear his career down. "I figure if you're happy in your new relationship you should focus on that instead of trying to tear your ex bf down for something to do," the DJ added.
