Going Too Far? Halsey Shades Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and Katy Perry
Music

The 22-year-old songstress accuses Britney of not writing her own songs and takes issue at Demi and Katy who sing about 'experimental hookups' with other women.

AceShowbiz - Whoa, Halsey, it's time to stop. After slamming Quavo and calling Iggy Azalea a "f**king moron," the dark pop singer has now taken a dig at Britney Spears, Demi Lovato and Katy Perry. She implies Britney doesn't write her own music and takes issue at Demi and Katy who sing about their sexual experiences with other women.

In an interview with Fast Company, Halsey doubts Britney's capability of writing music by saying, "I never considered myself a CEO until recently. At first, it was naivete, I thought every artist did everything themselves, I thought Britney Spears wrote her own music--I thought every superstar was designing their own live stage show, so I always just did those thing."

Meanwhile, Halsey appears to take a jab at Demi and Katy during an interview with Paper Magazine. When the magazine claims that "queer representation you get in pop are song sung by straight women, and they're more about experimental hookups," Halsey makes a reference to the two pop stars' songs. "Oh, yeah. Bisexuality as a taboo. 'Don't tell your mom' or 'We shouldn't do this' or 'This feels so wrong but it's so right,' " she shares.

In Demi's song "Cool for the Summer", the former Disney darling sings, "Dont tell your mother." Meanwhile, Katy's "I Kissed a Girl" has the lyrics "It felt so wrong/ It felt so right." Halsey adds, "That narrative is so f**king damaging to bisexuality and its place in society. That's something I've had to fight my whole life and something I still fight."

In what appears to be a response to Halsey's jab, Demi posted on Twitter, "You know a song is a hit when people are still talking about the lyrics two years later. #shhhhdonttellyourmother."
