The 'Dark Horse' songstress claims that all awards shows are fake because they don't represent her audiences.

AceShowbiz - Although Katy Perry has been winning a number of awards throughout her career, the 32-year-old singer apparently doubts their worth. In a recent interview with New York Times, the "Chained to the Rhythm" hitmaker says that all awards shows are constructed. She further claims that all the awards she has won are "fake."

For Katy, awards shows don't represent her audiences. "All the awards shows are fake," she declares. "And all the awards that I've won are fake. They're constructs." The songstress has won several awards during the course of her career, including three Kids' Choice Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards and four People's Choice Awards. She has also been nominated for Grammy Awards seven times.

During the interview, Katy also opens up about her past self, admitting that she doesn't "kill" her old persona. "I didn't kill her, because I love her, and she is exactly what I had to do then. And I'm not a con artist, I didn't con people, like, that was just me. And this is me now," she says of her new image.

Katy then dishes on why she "oversexualized" herself in her previous public image. She reveals that she has always been "scared of intimacy," and she intends to confront those issues now. "It's a departure, and it's a necessary evolution that I have to take. And I know that sometimes it feels publicly like I'm dragging cement blocks. But like, the pyramids were made out of cement blocks--or not cement. But do you know what I'm trying to say? I'm gonna get there," she explains.
