AceShowbiz - There has been some shifts in the next two seasons of FX's "American Crime Story". "Katrina: American Crime Story", which was initially set as the second installment of Ryan Murphy's anthology series before "The Assassination of Gianni Vercase: American Crime Story", is pushed back from an early 2018 to late 2018 premiere. On the other hand, "The Assassination of Gianni Versace" will now air as the second season in early 2018.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the change comes as "Katrina" needs "additional time to create special water effects needed to re-create Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath." Based on Douglas Brinkley's book "The Great Deluge", "Katrina" now is scheduled to begin production in early 2018. Scheduling for the cast, who includes Sarah Paulson, Cuba Gooding Jr., Annette Bening, Dennis Quaid and Matthew Broderick, is reportedly underway. It is unclear whether they will still be available for the series on the new timetable.
"Katrina" follows the tragedy during and after the hurricane which decimated New Orleans. Dennis will take the role of President George W. Bush, while Matthew will portray Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) director Michael D. Brown.
"The Assassination of Gianni Versace", meanwhile, chronicles the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace, who was killed on the steps of his home in Miami Beach by serial murderer Andrew Cunanan, who killed five other people that year. "Versace" stars Edgar Ramirez (Gianni Versace), Darren Criss (Andrew), Penelope Cruz (Donatella Versace) and Ricky Martin (Antonio D'Amico). Production of "Versace" is currently underway with the first two episodes already completed.
