Creator Dan Fogelman reveals that the upcoming sophomore season will hold 'a huge piece of the puzzle' regarding Jack's death, though new questions will soon follow.

AceShowbiz - New scoop for "This Is Us" upcoming season 2 is here. Joined by the NBC hit drama cast members, show creator Dan Fogelman gave more insights into the premiere of the upcoming season at the ArcLight Hollywood cinema in L.A. on Wednesday, June 7. He teased that the episode would answer the big question regarding Jack's (Milo Ventimiglia) death.

"The first episode of the season holds not all the answers but a huge piece of the puzzle," Fogelman revealed during the panel, a For Your Consideration event before next month's Emmy nominations. The creator further said that the question about Jack's death would be answered "over the course of the season."

However, he noted that things wouldn't be easy just because it was answered. "That's not to say new questions won't start being asked," he added.

Fogelman also shared that he didn't read any fan theories regarding Jack's death, though his writers did. His writers, however, had not "quite seen anybody in the vicinity of being right," adding that it was never his plan to reveal all the circumstances of how and when Jack died early on in the show's run.

As for Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Toby's (Chris Sullivan) relationship, Metz said, "I sort of don't want to rush in--I think that Toby and Kate have a long way to go to really get to know each other, and to know themselves." She added, "They don't just want to step into a marriage."

Fogelman also praised the performance of the cast members. He gushed about Mandy Moore's portrayal of Rebecca, which resembled his late mother so much to the point the hair on his arms stood up. Ventimiglia equally won his heart when he showed up at his meeting with his long hair, beard, motorcycle jacket and helmet.

"This Is Us" returns for season 2 this fall on Tuesdays at 9 P.M. on NBC.
